Now that pre-orders for the Apple Watch Series 7 have begun, those of you hoping to get your hands on the Series 6 will be out of luck. This is because Apple has apparently discontinued the Series 6 as it is no longer available on its website. So if you want to get the previous generation model, you’ll either have to try your luck at an Apple Store, or from a third party.
For those who don’t want the Series 7 but were hoping the Series 6 would be a cheaper alternative, Apple has other cheaper Apple Watches that they sell. These include the Apple Watch SE, which launched last year, and also the Series 3, which will be the entry-level Apple Watch for the budget conscious.
Some have argued that the Series 3 should have been retired years ago, especially as Series 3 owners find it increasingly difficult to install the latest watchOS firmware even though it is still technically supported. However, for those who just want an Apple Watch and aren’t necessarily interested in the latest Series 7 features, this isn’t a bad place to start.
The Apple Watch Series 7 starts at $ 399, while the Series 3 actually starts at $ 199, a good $ 200 cheaper, making it a more compelling alternative for buyers on a budget.
