Many beloved electronics have fallen victim to a spilled glass of water. No matter how careful you are, spills do happen. However, next time you spill something on your desk, you might have one less worry when you purchase the SteelSeries Tenkeyless Keyboard (TKL) released today for $ 45.

SteelSeries says its new Apex 3 TKL is both waterproof and dustproof thanks to its IP32 certification and a polymer frame. The classification of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) guarantees that the keyboard will not be damaged by dripping water “if the case is tilted at any angle of up to 15 degrees”. The IP32 certification also means that the Apex 3 TKL is protected from anything that is at least 2.5mm tall.

The SteelSeries Apex 3 TKL is simply a no-keypad version of the SteelSeries Apex 3 that has the same certification. Other gaming keyboards, such as Corsair’s K68 mechanical keyboard, share the same IEC stamp, but a waterproof TKL form factor keyboard is rare.

Many lower end brands claim that their TKL boards are water resistant, but most are not certified. Niz Keyboard produces a waterproof TKL that can be submerged in water and has an IPX68 rating which is the second most extreme water and dust protection on the market. However, this high level of protection costs $ 209.

Since the new SteelSeries keyboard uses foils instead of mechanical switches, the lower price makes sense. However, the Apex 3 TKL has some premium features for gamers, such as the ability to save macros and an eight-zone RGB backlight that you can software adjust to respond to Discord and games.

The Apex 3 TKL marks the first product launch from SteelSeries since the announcement of the acquisition by GN, the parent company of Jabra and other audio brands.
