: Hands-on with Galaxy S21 Ultra (Pocketnow video)
December is just around the corner, but what does that mean? Well, flagship smartphone leaks from early 2022 have already surfaced – the OnePlus 10 Pro and Galaxy S21 FE are expected to be announced early next year. In addition to the mid-range smartphone from Samsung, which is expected to be announced in January, Samsung will also announce the next generation of its flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S22, sometime in the January-February window. Before the smartphone was released, leaks and rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra surfaced.
Earlier this month we received our first renders of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and a number of leaks surfaced as a result. First we learned about the camera array that could be included in Samsung’s next flagship, and then we learned about the Exynos 2200, which is said to be shipping in the S22 series. We even got some of the real-life photos of the device, including two to three months before its announcement. Now, Samsung tipster Ice Universe has shared some more information about the quad camera module that could be in the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Tweet from Ice Universe about the camera module on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
According to the tipster (via ), the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will have a quad camera setup on the back. This quad camera setup has a 108 MP primary sensor, a 12 MP ultra wide angle sensor, a 10 MP telephoto lens, and a 10 MP periscope sensor. Previously it was expected that the telesensor and the periscope sensor would also receive the megapixel upgrade and be upgraded to 12MP sensors. However, the Samsung tipster has said that the S22 Ultra will keep the same 10 MP periscope and telephoto sensors.
In addition to the camera’s megapixels, Ice Universe also illuminated other details of the camera sensor. The tipster claims that the S22 Ultra is an improved version of the 108 MP ISOCELL HM3 sensor with an aperture of f / 1.8, a focal length of 1 / 1.33 inch, 0.8 μm and a field of view of 85 degrees (FoV) will have. The leaker also claims that the telephoto and periscope sensors will be the new version of Sony cameras. However, your zoom capabilities remain the same. The periscope sensor offers 10x optical zoom, while the telephoto lens offers 3x optical zoom.
The leaker says that Sony’s new periscope sensor will have an aperture of f / 4.9, a focal length of 1 / 3.52 inches, 1.12 μm and a field of view (FoV) of 11 degrees. The new telesensor from Sony has an aperture of f / 2.4, a focal length of 1 / 3.52 inches, 1.12 μm and a 36-degree field of view (FoV). That is all we know about the S22 Ultra cameras for the moment. No new features have been leaked yet. However, as the launch approaches, we’ll learn more about Samsung’s upcoming flagship range.
