One of the features Apple announced at WWDC 2021 was a feature for the AirPods Pro called Conversation Boost. This essentially makes the earbuds a kind of pseudo hearing aid that can help increase the volume of the people speaking around you, and the good news is that the feature apparently exists.
As part of the latest AirPods Pro firmware update, Apple finally brought Conversation Boost to its earbuds. Note that this only seems to work for the AirPods Pro. To those who own the regular AirPods or AirPods Pro Max, it doesn’t look like this is a feature that you can take advantage of.
To enable the feature, you’ll need to launch the Settings app on your phone, scroll down to Accessibility, and look for AirPods. Then you need to go to Audio Accessibility Settings, select Headphone Accommodation, select Custom Audio Setup and follow the instructions. At the end, under Customize Transparency Mode, scroll down and find Conversation Boost and toggle it on.
Keep in mind that this is not a substitute for a proper pair of hearing aids, but for those who are not necessarily at the point where they might need hearing aids but could still benefit from increasing their speaking volume, this could be the case Worth a look.
