If the internet has taught us anything over the past five years, it is this: Don’t mess upand you definitely don’t mess with the BTS army.

In the context of BTS, the South Korean supergroup with one of the toughest fan bases in history,as special envoy of South Korean President Moon Jae-in. You gave a speech on climate change and vaccination hesitation. They also performed. Why BTS? Well, the numbers speak for themselves: Six million people watched the YouTube video of the speech and song in just five hours.
And this is where James Corden comes in.
James Corden has long been a friend of BTS and keeps inviting her on his show until BTS fans call him “Papa Mochi” because of his relationship with Jimin (nicknamed Mochi).
But now there is trouble in paradise. The problem? A series of jokes from Corden about BTS’s recent trip to the UN.
On the Late Late Show, Corden very gently mocked the UN for inviting BTS to the UN headquarters in New York, but perhaps his biggest faux pax: referring to the BTS fan base as “15 year old girls”. It was a short series of very mundane (and boring) jokes, but that was enough to stir the ire of BTS fans.
Next minute: James Corden is trending on Twitter for all the wrong reasons.

James Corden, as a teenager, I just want to take a moment to say leave us alone. I’m not mindless because I like a boy band, and neither does the fact that I like a boy band devalues its accomplishments. Stop using my gender and age to ridicule other people and their actions.

You literally can’t underestimate the power of the BTS. When the BTS army mobilizes on an issue, they usually have a big impact. K-pop fans managed to sabotage a Trump rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, back in July 2020, and they don’t forgive any perceived insults toward BTS or the BTS fan base.
In this case, the anger is more focused on how Corden relates to the fan base. Teasing a group for having a following of teenage girls seems pretty old-fashioned. Harry Styles put it best in 2017: “Who says that young girls who like pop music – short for popular, right? – have worse taste in music than a 30-year-old hipster guy, ”he said in an interview with Rolling-Stone. “You can’t say that. Music is something that is constantly changing. There are no goal posts. Young girls like the Beatles.
James Corden was trending last month for all the wrong reasons. Just weeks ago he lit the internet by disguising himself as a mouse and pushing in the general direction of cars in traffic.
Yes it happened.
Representatives from the Late Late Show did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
