After the release of iOS 15 and the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 owners quickly found that they couldn’t unlock their iPhones using the Apple Watch. Apple later promised they would release a fix, and if you own the iPhone 13 you might want to try the latest update.
An update was recently released that brings the iPhone’s software to iOS 15.0.1. The changelog for the update doesn’t mention any other fixes other than the bug that fixes the problem with the iPhone 13 and Apple Watch, but it might be worth updating to anyway.
For strangers, unlocking with the Apple Watch was a feature that Apple introduced some time ago during the pandemic. As more people wore masks to protect themselves from the coronavirus, features like Face ID became useless and tedious to use.
Apple then introduced the Unlock feature, where as long as the Apple Watch was unlocked on your wrist and paired with your iPhone, it would automatically unlock your iPhone for you. It has proven to be an invaluable feature, and if you haven’t set it up yourself, check out our guide on how to unlock your iPhone while wearing a mask.
