TikTok can collect your face and voice prints, as reveals the updated privacy policy.

TikTok updated its US privacy policy this week to say it can collect “biometric identifiers and biometric information” such as “facial and voice prints” from your videos. The video-based social app will ask for permission where required by law, as stated in the policy notice.

Few states have biometric data protection laws – California, Illinois, New York, Texas, and Washington – which may mean TikTok doesn’t need to seek permission from anyone in other states, as determined by TechCrunch.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency, we recently updated our privacy policy to provide more clarity about the information we may collect and how it is used,” a TikTok spokesperson told CNET in a statement emailed to it .

In February, TikTok has agreed to pay $ 92 million to resolve a lawsuit alleging that the app collected biometric and private information from users in the United States and disclosed private user information to third parties.
