As with pretty much all gaming controllers, the Sony PS5 DualSense controller is also equipped with built-in vibration. This should help to give more haptic feedback while playing and to make the gaming experience a little more intense. It can also be used to give notifications to players when they are hit, their health is low, and so on.
However, it turns out that the PS5 DualSense controllers can actually be used to hum along to music. This comes from a report by The Verge that stumbled upon a Reddit post from last year that with a few tweaks you could get the controller to listen to your favorite music.
We’re not sure if this was intentional, but the user who discovered it accidentally did it. According to u / Dino1482: “Sorry if this was already discovered, but when I connected my Dualsense controller to my PC, I noticed that my speaker output changed to the controller. I found this strange so I decided to play music from Spotify and the Dualsense essentially acted as a subwoofer that picks up the bass and vibrates with the music. Depending on the song, the vibrations have shifted dynamically from left to right. “
If this sounds like a fun mod that you’d like to try, The Verge has a quick tutorial you can follow to set it up for yourself.
