He’s sent rockets into space (and landed again), gave the EV market a much-needed boost, and launched a transportation project for ultra-high-speed travel. Now Elon Musk wants to open a diner.
Say what? A snack? Well, at least according to a recent filing by Tesla for three new brands targeting different restaurant services.
In particular, Tesla’s filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) relates to “restaurant services, pop-up restaurant services, self-service restaurant services, takeaway restaurant services”.
According to Electrek, who first discovered the filing, the restaurant brands sought include one for the word “Tesla”, another for the “T” logo, and another for the company’s proprietary design of the word “Tesla”.
Okay, so maybe it’s not that big of a surprise that Musk appears to be headed towards hospitality for his next ambitious venture. Or at least his next project.
After all, the billionaire entrepreneur tweeted three years ago about his desire to set up a kind of restaurant at the Tesla Supercharger stations in Los Angeles.
“I’m going to build an old-school drive-in, roller-skate and rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA,” Musk said in the tweet.

He hasn’t pursued those ideas yet, but the recent filing with the USPTO certainly suggests the electric car maker is moving towards adding Tesla-branded restaurants to some of its Supercharger stations.
Such establishments may already be selling drinks in a coffee shop and also include a lounge with vending machines where you can relax while you wait for your vehicle to charge, but right now you need to explore the nearby amenities if you are after a proper dining experience .
Although Tesla didn’t give an official word about its apparent desire to get into the restaurant business, the latest filing suggests that the company put the plan on the menu and may be opening such a facility in the near future. Musk Mega Burger, anyone?
