Sony’s April State of Play showed 15 minutes of Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart gameplay and gave an in-depth look at the new version. As an added surprise, the stream revealed that a PlayStation version of Among Us is coming this year.
Most of the stream was about Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which launches June 11th. The stream comes just days after Sony released new details about the game, including the identity of its mysterious new Lombax.
Much of the presentation revolved around the game’s PS5-specific features. The adaptive triggers of the Dualsense play a huge role in the game. Different weapons are fired depending on how far a trigger is pressed. For example, the burst pistol will fire a single shot when a trigger is half depressed or a burst shot when it is fully depressed. Similarly, the Enforcer shotgun shoots either one or two barrels, depending on how far the trigger is pulled.
A particularly impressive detail is that thanks to the PS5’s SSD, the game can take players to a completely new location with hardly any loading time. The gameplay featured a boss fight in which Ratchet is immediately sent to a completely new location during the fight with no apparent strain.
The stream also contained news about two indie games. Among Us is finally coming to PS4 and PS5 later this year. The console version gets a new costume based on Ratchet & Clank to celebrate the release. The PlayStation version does not have an exact release date.
The upcoming Subnautica Below Zero also appeared quickly. The underwater survival game gets dualsense support and 4K graphics. In addition, players who own the first game on PS4 can upgrade to the PS5 version for free.
