September is officially here and a lot is happening in Pokemon Go this month. Developer Niantic has a variety of events planned for the Mobile Game Season of Mischief, including the, the return of the Psychic Spectacular, and more. Here’s a roundup of the biggest events and activities happening in Pokemon Go in September 2021.
September Special Research Encounter: Ditto
Starting September 1st, a new set of field research tasks and rewards will be available in Pokemon Go, as well as a new encounter with the Research Breakthrough. Every time you complete enough tasks to achieve a research breakthrough in September, you will be given the chance to catch a ditto. In addition, there is a chance that the ditto you encounter will be shiny.

To achieve a research breakthrough in Pokemon Go, you will need to collect seven stamps. You will receive a stamp each day for the first field research assignment you do. So, you need to complete assignments for at least seven days to get a research breakthrough and encounter Ditto.
Legendary raid rotation
Several Legendary Pokémon will return to Five Star Raid Battles in September.will be available in the first half of the month, and everyone you meet is guaranteed to know the Charged Attack Aeroblast. After Lugia left the game on September 14th, it will be replaced by the legendary trio Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie in different parts of the world until October 1st.

Pokémon Spotlight Hours in September
Every Tuesday evening, Niantic hosts a Spotlight Hour event in Pokemon Go from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. During this hour a certain Pokémon will spawn much more often than usual in the wild, and a special bonus will be active in the game that will give you extra experience points or candy. Here are September’s Spotlight Pokémon and Bonuses:
7th of September
- Spotlight Pokémon: Spoink
- Spotlight bonus: catch stardust twice
- Spotlight Pokémon: Baltoy
- Spotlight Bonus: 2x Catch XP
- Spotlight Pokémon: Skitty
- Spotlight bonus: catch candy twice
- Spotlight Pokémon: Alolan Meow
- Spotlight bonus: 2x sweets transferred
Hoopa’s arrival event
Pokemon Go kicks off its season of mischief on September 5th with an event dedicated to the. turns. As part of the event, there will be a new Special Research Task that culminates in an encounter with Hoopa and is your first chance to catch one in Pokemon Go.
In addition, clairvoyants, ghosts, and dark Pokémon will appear more frequently throughout the event. The species you will encounter in the wild change every hour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time. There will also be a new Collecting Challenge to complete, and you’ll earn double the amount of Candy every time you transfer a Pokémon during event times.
Clairvoyant spectacular event
Inkay makes his Pokemon Go debut during the Psychic Spectacular event.
Pokemon Go’s Psychic Spectacular event returns from September 8th to 13th. As part of the event, the dark / psychic Pokemon Inkay and its evolved form, Malamar, will be available in Pokemon Go for the first time. According to Niantic, Inkay will “only evolve in unique circumstances,” presumably by holding your phone upside down – much like how it evolves in mainline Pokémon games.
In addition to Inkay, other Psychic Pokémon like Abra, Gothita, and Solosis will appear more frequently in the wild, while Alolan Raichu, Wobbuffet, Medicham, and Metagross all appear as three-star raid bosses. There will also be themed field research tasks to do, as well as new Psychic Pokémon stickers that can be obtained from gifts, PokeStops, or the in-game shop. Finally, the next chapter in the seasonal story of Misunderstood Mischief Special Research will go live during the event.
Community day in September 2021
Pokemon Gostakes place on Sunday, September 19th. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time, the Aquatic Pokémon Oshawott will spawn in the wild much more frequently than usual, and you’ll earn three times the usual amount of XP for catching Pokémon. In addition, every Dewott you develop into Samurott by 7 p.m. local time learns the exclusive Hydro Cannon promotion, which is exclusive to Community Day.
Niantic is hosting a Fashion Week event in Pokemon Go from September 21-28. The studio says the event will “debut Pokémon in style,” and there will be new avatar items and more. Further details will be announced shortly after the event.
