At Google I / O 2021, Google made a rather surprising announcement announcing that they will be working with Samsung to revamp Wear OS. The end result is a “new” platform called Google Wear. Although Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything, a recent rumor that Samsung is switching to Google Wear for its next smartwatch actually seems to make more sense now.
So where are all of Samsung’s Tizen users? While Samsung didn’t say whether it will stop releasing Tizen smartwatches and wearables in the future, the company said it will commit to at least three years of software support for current (and perhaps future) devices.
Samsung says, “At Samsung, we always put the customer at the center of everything we do. That’s why we strive to give you the best possible smartwatch experience. For customers who already own the Galaxy Smartwatches based on Tizen OS, we will continue to offer at least three years of software support after the product launch. “
We’re not sure when Samsung’s next smartwatch will be released, but with the company reportedly planning an event in August to showcase the new foldable devices, we may then learn more about the company’s plans.
