As promised a few weeks ago, Samsung has started removing ads from its OneUI Android apps. The first apps to lose the company’s banners are the Samsung Pay and Samsung Health apps. If you open these two apps now, you will no longer see the advertised banners that were displayed all over the app.
The change was first spotted in South Korea, as reported by 9to5Google. Users on the Samsung community forums found that ads suddenly disappeared from the Samsung Pay app, which was later confirmed by a Samsung employee that the company had actually started removing ads from OneUI apps. The first apps to remove the ads are Samsung Health and Samsung Pay. The company says it will be removing ads from all of its OneUI apps in the upcoming updates.

If you still see ads on your Samsung device, you may need to update your smartphone. This appears to be a server-side switch too, so you might have to wait some time before the ads disappear from your phone.
Still, the move seems like a step in the right direction for Samsung. Users and even Samsung’s own employees have been complaining about ads in One UI for a long time. We also saw some readers complain about the ads in the comments section. This is also considered to be one of the factors why people avoid buying Samsung phones. But, given the ads are now gone, is that a good move to consider switching to Samsung smartphones? What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments section below!
