At Apple’s Spring Loaded event in April, the company announced a new Apple TV. Sure, there have been improvements under the hood and there was also a brand new Siri remote, but otherwise it wasn’t a particularly significant or groundbreaking update to the Apple TV range, but there could be a reason for it.
A report from Bloomberg found that Apple could be working on a more significant upgrade. That upgrade could come in the form of a new device that combines Apple’s HomePod and Apple TV. This means that users can not only use it as an Apple TV, but also like a HomePod to play music and, most importantly, to control their smart home devices.
Before you get too excited, however, the report claims that this device is still in early development, which means it may not hit the market anytime soon. What’s interesting is that this isn’t the first time Bloomberg has heard that Apple might be working on multiple iterations of the HomePod.
For example, we’ve heard that Apple might have a HomePod device with a smart display. There was also mention of a HomePod with a robotic arm that could be used to hold an iPad. In any case, it might take a while for one of these iterations to hit the market, but which of these devices would you be most interested in?
