The latest fanless Apple MacBook Air hits just the right note for an Apple laptop (or any laptop computer, really). This high-performance laptop is back to its old starting price of $ 999, and if you’re a teacher or student, Apple’s educational discount gives you an extra $ 100 off. Or you can sign up for a free student account with Best Buy to bring the price down to $ 800. The base model has the M1 processor from Apple with an eight-core CPU, a seven-core GPU and a 16-core neural engine. If you step up from the base MacBook, you’ll get an eight-core GPU and double the storage with a 512GB SSD, but you’ll be spending an additional $ 250.
Like the previous Mac laptop models, the M1 Air features Apple’s Magic Keyboard, Touch ID, a Force Touch trackpad, and a 13.3-inch Retina display. If you’re a college student, it’s hard to go wrong with the new MacBook Air.

This sleek 3-pound two-in-one device is a solid Windows operating system choice for anyone who needs a college laptop for school work. The all-metal body gives it a premium look and feel, and it has a comfortable keyboard and a responsive, smooth, precision touchpad. The 14-inch display gives you more space to work than competing 13-inch models at this price point. As a 2-in-1 device, you can use it as a laptop or tablet and it supports pen input with the optional Active Pen from Lenovo. Though it offers few additional features compared to its premium linemate, the Yoga 9i, it does have one of Lenovo’s sliding shutters for the webcam that gives you privacy if you wish, and a fingerprint reader for quick logins. It also has a long battery life to boot.

Tired of working on documents or spreadsheets on a small widescreen display? The Acer Chromebook Spin 713 uses one of Acer’s bright VertiView displays, a 13.5-inch touchscreen with 2,256 x 1,504 pixels and an aspect ratio of 3: 2. As the name suggests, it offers more vertical space to work, but is still the width of a typical 13.3-inch laptop with an aspect ratio of 16: 9. Coupled with its battery life, which lasted almost 13 hours in our tests, it’s a great laptop for getting more work done in a day – and it’s still thin and light enough for everyday use.
The latest version of this Chromebook is the first to receive Evo verification from Intel, which means that you will get the best mobile experience possible with this model. It’s also the first with Thunderbolt 4 support, which allows you to connect multiple external displays and provide fast data speeds and networks. Read our review of the Acer Chromebook Spin 713.

Gateway was known for low-cost desktops and laptops in the 1990s. Last year the brand was revitalized for a new line of laptops and tablets sold exclusively through Walmart. These models were recently updated with Intel 11th generation processors, and we tested both 15.6- and 14.1-inch models. The latter gets our voice as an inexpensive option to get schoolwork done while being light enough to carry around campus for the day. The eye-catcher is the Intel Core i5 processor, which offers reliable performance despite the combination with cheaper components. The keyboard is comfortable but not backlit and the touchpad isn’t the most precise. The built-in fingerprint reader is also a hit-or-miss. Nevertheless, it has many connections, so connecting a mouse or an external display is not a problem and the Full HD display is also fine. The battery also lasted just over 10 hours for a few minutes in our streaming video test.

A remarkable college laptop deal for simple tasks like email, word processing, and more, thanks to the new AMD Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 processors. This affordable laptop also has a backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader, and a USB Type-C port. The Acer Swift 3 is also an incredibly lightweight laptop – less than 3 pounds – for a machine that sells for less than $ 700.
In addition to this Acer Swift, we are also fans of the Acer Aspire 5, which has a larger 15.6-inch display. The Acer Aspire 5 is available in a variety of configurations starting at $ 405, but can go up to $ 711 if you want discreet entry-level graphics for basic gaming and content creation.

The Surface Pro remains the standard carrier for Windows devices that function as both a Surface laptop and a touchscreen tablet, although this convertible laptop is a better tablet than a laptop. (If you’re looking for the opposite of a student laptop, Lenovo’s Yoga two-in-one devices are better laptops than tablets.) Pro is finally getting a USB-C port. The super portable size of the Surface Laptop makes it an ideal student laptop for high school and college students who may carry a lot of gear. While this company still sells the Surface Laptop Pro without the necessary Type Cover keyboard and Surface Pen, it can often be found at a relatively cheap laptop price – sometimes with one or both of the accessories.

Dell has optimized its G-series gaming laptops and switched from three models to just one Dell laptop – and everything is fine. Instead of having to decipher the various feature and quality differences between them, there is just one case with a variety of configurations starting at $ 833. All processors can be combined with up to 6 GB Nvidia RTX 3060, 8 GB or 16 GB memory and up to 1 TB memory. You’re basically a more budget-friendly version of the Alienware division, but you can still play the latest AAA titles.
