Wireless plans often come with benefits: AT&T offers HBO Max. Verizon offers a variety of options, including Disney Plus. T-Mobile offers Netflix. Dish-owned Boish Mobile’s new addition does not use traditional streaming video service. On Wednesday there was a new contract with the sports betting and fantasy sports provider DraftKings announced.
As part of the contract, Boost Mobile customers can register for competitions on the exclusively designated DraftKings platform. While the NBA Playoffs are in progress, an exclusive promotion for Boost Mobile users will be able to enter an NBA Finals competition to guess the total number of points scored over the course of the series and win $ 100,000 (with the pot under shared among participants) winner in case of a tie). The competition will open on June 11th. Entries are due by the beginning of the finals on July 8th.

In states where DraftKings’ sports betting is legalized, the wireless operator is offering new users a free $ 50 sportsbook bet with a $ 5 deposit and their first bet placed. The airline is also offering new DraftKings daily fantasy sports players a free $ 3 ticket to a DraftKings competition when they deposit $ 5 and enter a paid competition.
A promo code is required for both promotions and is available in the branches. In states like New Jersey, where DraftKings offers a sports betting app and a daily fantasy app, only sports betting advertising is available.
“We’re trying to go where the major airlines are too conservative,” Stephen Stokols, Boost Mobile’s executive vice president, told CNET. “I don’t think Verizon will do anything in any betting area,” suggesting that its company’s wireless rival may be committed to “some kind of political correctness.”
He adds that his company is considering adding additional ways to get DraftKings credits for Boost Mobile users, such as: B. Bonuses for tasks like paying a cell phone bill on time or referring a friend to the cell phone provider.
“We’re trying to make the wireless experience a little more fun,” says Stokols. “It’s called sports entertainment … we’re trying to make it more fun and really expand wireless service into that space.”
Although there’s a commercial deal between the two companies, Stokols says Boost won’t cut its customers’ spending on DraftKings.
In addition to exclusive competitions and site credits, Boost Mobile will also turn “many thousands” of its branded stores across the country into locations where DraftKings users – regardless of whether they also have the operator’s service – can, in contrast, deposit cash in person Having to electronically transfer money to the app by debit or credit card.
While DraftKings players are no longer able to cash out winnings in Boost stores today, Stokols says adding this feature is “on the roadmap”.
The move is the last as Dish continues to evolve into a cellular operator after acquiring Boost Mobile and other cellular assets from T-Mobile. Boost Mobile is currently running on T-Mobile’s cellular network. Dish is expected to offer its own 5G offering later this year.
Las Vegas will be the company’s first city when it goes live in the third quarter of the year. Stokols teases that “several” additional cities will go online in the fourth quarter. However, he wouldn’t say what cities those will be.
