Amazon already makes many of its own branded products, including speakers, earbuds, cable bags, monitor stands, and more. So it’s not really surprising to learn that Amazon’s next company could be on TV, or at least that’s what a report from Insider (Paywall) claims.
Apparently, Amazon will be launching its own branded TVs in the US this October, just in time for Christmas shopping. The report claims that Amazon has been working on this project for the past two years, and it is the same department that helped develop products like the Kindle and Echo speakers.
However, it should be noted that the models planned for October apparently come from third-party manufacturers such as TCL. This will be separate from those that are being developed in-house, although we’re not sure if the in-house models will be announced alongside the other models or if Amazon might be planning a separate announcement for them.
We envision that an Amazon branded television will likely support Alexa, much like most of its products. It will also more than likely run Fire TV as the platform of choice. Anyway, we should have more details next month.
